The law firm of Curran Estate & Elder Law is seeking to hire an individual for an Office Assistant position.  This position will be part time, potentially 20-25 (flexible) hours per week and is perfect for the detail-oriented individual who is looking to work with a great group of caring people in a busy estate and elder law office.  Some of the duties may be:  Organizing, scanning and saving documents; running local errands such as to banks, Post Office, Courthouse and clients' homes; ordering supplies as needed; posting the mail; sending thank you/sympathy cards and/or flowers; assisting with the preparation/publication of the Firm’s newsletter; and general organization throughout the office such as keeping the copiers filled with paper, watering plants, running the dishwasher, etc.  

Skills and attributes should include:  Maintaining confidentiality, a pleasant, empathetic, people-person personality; ability to type and use email, ability to multi-task, lifting up to 10 pounds, and maintaining a valid driver’s license and a vehicle (you will be reimbursed for your mileage).

Kozloff Stoudt, a well-respected, mid-sized law firm has an opportunity available for an experienced Estates and Trust Paralegal in their Wyomissing office. For more than 70 years, Kozloff Stoudt has represented clients in all aspects of law, but especially in delivering sophisticated and effective estate services. Our practice offers an experienced and motivated professional an opportunity to join a collegial and hard-working team. Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ability to be the primary professional for opening, administering and closing estates.
  • Establish close rapport with lawyers, fiduciaries and beneficiaries to ensure positive and cooperative working relationship during the estate administration.
  • Prepare probate and administration documents, including especially Petitions for Probate, statutory Notices, Inventories, Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax Returns and Federal Estate Tax Returns.
  • Collect, analyze and organize decedent’s financial records, including tax returns, inter-vivos trust agreements, gift tax returns and financial statements.  Maintain financial records for use in Accounting and preparation of tax returns. Communicate with financial planners and accountants. 
  • Prepare asset transfer documents, such as deeds and asset assignments.
  • Prepare documents for transfer of non-probate assets.
  • Prepare Accountings, Receipts and Releases in connection with distributions from an estate or trust.

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 2+ years of working in Estate Administration and on Lackner 6-in-1 (or comparable estate administration software).
  • Highly detailed, organized, and established multi-tasker.
  • Ability to manage significant workflow assigned by multiple attorneys, to work under tight deadlines and to respond to competing and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to keep clients on task to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to problem solve and utilize good judgment with strict confidentiality.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Positive and professional demeanor.
  • Proficiency with computer programs including MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel.
