5/24/2024: The law firm of Curran Estate & Elder Law has two part-time openings for which we are seeking qualified candidates:
1) Office Assistant
This position will be part time, potentially 20-25 (flexible) hours per week and is perfect for the detail-oriented individual who is looking to work with a great group of caring people in a busy estate and elder life care planning law firm. Some of the duties may be: running local errands such as to banks, post office, and courthouse; posting mail; sending thank you/sympathy cards and/or flowers; scanning and saving of documents; and general organization throughout the office such as keeping the copiers filled with paper, watering plants, cleaning conference room tables, running the dishwasher, etc.
Skills and attributes should include: maintaining confidentiality; a pleasant, empathetic, nurturing personality; ability to type and use email; ability to multi-task; lifting up to 10 pounds; and maintain a valid driver’s license and your own vehicle (you will be reimbursed for your mileage at the applicable federal rate).
No need for prior legal experience but having a passion for being of service to people and being a team player is essential. This position is in office.

2) Legal Assistant
The ideal candidate will have some previous experience in a law firm (preferred but not required), be able to work independently (with guidance and mentorship available from current staff), be self-motivated, and be a team player when joining our caring group. This position provides an opportunity to provide meaningful support in handling client files and other firm operations. The candidate must have a strong attention to detail; the ability to draft letters and basic legal documents in support of multiple attorneys/paralegals; excellent writing skills; ability to follow instructions and manage deadlines; scheduling of appointments; and a passion for achieving the best outcomes for our clients.
This position is in-office, part-time, and potentially 20-25 hours per week with some flexibility based on our clients’ needs.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Direct administrative assistance to attorneys, paralegals and care coordinator;
- Maintaining digital and physical office files;
- Carrying out projects as assigned;
- Drafting and sending correspondence;
- General office administration support;
- Collaboratively drafting, printing, collating, and binding of estate planning documents;
- Scanning, assembling, and mailing binders/folders;
- Preparation of a variety of estate planning documents;
- Preparing documents for signing; and
- Data entry and client database maintenance
Requirements:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Excellence with customer service support;
- Strong communication skills;
- Motivation and initiative;
- Computer proficiency;
- Superb organization and multitasking skills.
